  • Essay / Importance of Leadership in Achieving Organizational Goals

In today's business world, organizations must try to have a competitive advantage over other organizations. The advantage can be a technological advantage, or a product that competitors do not have, or anything that will give the organization an advantage over its competitors. Another competitive advantage that an organization could have could be employee motivation and leadership, which will help the organization achieve its goals and improve the aspects that are preventing the organization from achieving its goals. When employees have these two aspects they could help the organization succeed in many ways, but to understand how these two aspects could help the organization we need to know what they are and how can we promote them within of the organization. Leadership is defined as “influencing individual and group activities toward the achievement of goals.” Hersey, Blanchard and Johnson (2007). and motivation is “the willingness to work to achieve organizational goals” by Hersey et al. (2007). These two concepts go hand in hand and are extremely important for an organization to achieve its goals. When an organization has employees who are leaders and who are motivated; this could provide a competitive advantage over competitors. “Leaders impact our daily lives and our future. In good times and bad, strong leadership is always necessary. The success of a business or industry is determined by the leaders it chooses or inherits. Winterton (2002) Extensive research has been carried out on leadership for many years, but there is no evidence of where leadership comes from or how to achieve it; while many believe that people are born with characteristics and skills that make that specific person successful...... middle of paper ...... competent employees who will be happy and motivated to work and do part of this specific organization, knowledge of which in a few days is difficult to maintain.
