  • Essay / Purchasing Management - 1147

This week's discussion seems to focus on purchasing management and its relationship with project managers. In an attempt to follow the guidelines outlined in the thread instructions, I will begin by answering the following question: "As a project manager, what procurement management activities have you performed or experienced in the past?" ยป Although my current job title is not project manager, I have been responsible for many procurement tasks often associated with project managers. As a project manager, what procurement management activities have you performed or experienced in the past?Currently, I am working as a project manager. supply technician at the Warrior Transition Battalion located at Fort Carson, Colorado. The core mission of this organization is to assist and meet the needs of wounded warriors stationed at Fort Carson as they embark on a journey to regain their physical and mental health. By definition, as a Procurement Technician, I am responsible for leading all purchasing management transactions within my organization. In the past, I have been responsible for the following actions: identifying potential goods and services, selecting suppliers, comparing prices, leading negotiations on prices and delivery times, reconciling government credit cards, receiving and distribution of goods and management of stocks. While these are not the only procurement tasks I have completed, they are the ones that immediately come to mind because I perform them frequently. If the PM did not complete these activities, who in the organization did? The second question in the thread actually coincides. very good with the first question because it asks students to identify who, if a...... middle of a paper ...... succeeds. Conclusion I found this first discussion to be a great introduction to the course itself because it forces students to insert themselves into the scenarios. I found the discussion very useful as it helped me better correlate my current job tasks with those of a project manager. This mission helped me get back into the swing of things and I'm looking forward to the weeks to come. Works Cited Esteves, A., & Barclay, M. (2011).
