1) Title: “By Any Means Necessary”: The Malcolm X Controversy2) Thesis: For this research paper, I will examine the beliefs and teachings of Malcolm were controversial. The research will examine primary sources that show the views of Malcolm X, the Nation of Islam and the public on some of his speeches to the public. These perspectives will allow me to determine whether Malcolm X was controversial or not. The sources will provide insight into Malcolm X's childhood and, using his childhood, one can see if there were any incidents in which Malcolm In this article I will argue that Malcolm X was not controversial as a whole but during certain parts of his life he advocated racism and violence. The thesis of the article is that Malcolm X went through two phases in his life; the first, when he was pro-racism, and the second, when he advocated working as one human race in order to have equality for all, regardless of each person's race. It is the first phase that many critics of Malcolm X focus on, but they neglect the second phase.
