Essay / Nanomaterials - 618
Definition of Nanomaterials: "Nanotechnology" is a generic term which describes applications in many scientific fields but covers the general principles of research and the properties existing at the Nano scale, i.e. -say at the level of atoms and molecules. . The objective is to produce nanotechnological objects or materials smaller than 100 nanometers. These nanomaterials are composed of nanoparticles which, unlike fine natural particles or those resulting from combustion, are produced intentionally. Nanomaterials can be metals, ceramics, carbon, polymers or silicates which have the advantage of having specific characteristics compared to the same materials on the macro scale. The acquisition of these new physicochemical properties thus opens up a vast field of fundamental and applied research grouped under the name “Nano science”. History: Brussels, October 18, 2011 - “Nanomaterials” are materials whose main constituents have dimensions between 1 and 100 billionths of a meter: this is the content of the recommendation adopted today by the European Commission. This announcement marks an important milestone f...
