    Opposing the Vietnam WarThe Vietnam War is one of the most controversial arguments in history. The main reason it's so controversial is because we lost. Democrats and Republicans say the war should have been fought differently. Some wonder why bother, the war is over; that no one can do anything to change it. The amazing thing about history is that we can learn from our mistakes and ensure that nothing like this happens again. Then again, if Vietnam had never happened, we would have better relations with foreign countries. America would not be in this situation if the war had never happened. Soldiers were scarred for life by the Vietnam War and today have many stories to tell. For the first time in history, America lost a war to a foreign country. One of America's main problems is that it interferes with other nations and ends up in their situation. Why does America get involved in things that don't concern it? Well, some claim it is to protect the world from communism or any other form of tyranny. Unfortunately, sometimes it's best to stay on your own turf. If America gets too involved, things like Vietnam will happen. The main reason the United States entered the war was to stop communist expansion. But Digital History says that "critics of the war have also rejected the idea that the war was necessary to end Chinese expansionism, noting that Vietnamese history revealed centuries of bitter enmity between Vietnam and China. » (Digital History 1) Another reason the United States should have stayed out of Vietnam is that it was not necessary for... middle of paper... a raid of anything different . When a country has a different system of government, America sets out to change it.
