Two years in the making, countless hours of songwriting, guitar tracking, recording, and then multiple lawsuits filed by record labels and the end result is the masterpiece that is A Day To Remember's Common Courtesy album. . To most people the whole genre of metal, hardcore or punk music is just one big idea of devil worship and ignorance, these misconceptions are so wrong that they are almost unfair. The detail and progression of the music in these genres is so advanced that it is devastating to musicians that most people do not consider it music. A Day To Remember are the pinnacle of melodic hardcore music, or "pop-mosh", they are the best musicians and have the biggest impact on the scene and in the world. In a world that focuses solely on what Miley Cyrus is doing and in a genre that is mostly only heard by angry, heartbroken teenagers, ADTR has solidified itself in the music world and that's what makes from his new album “Common Courtesy” an emblematic part of hardcore music. The 12th track on the album is “The Document Speaks For Itself”, this song embodies everything that A Day To Remember is and it mixes everything they have done with previous records, it is musical genius. Being a hardcore band, the instrumentation includes two guitars, lead and rhythm guitar, bass guitar, drums and two types of vocals, clean vocals and a "death growl" scream. What makes this particular song so unique is that it is a balance of everything the band tries to do when creating songs, it mixes their heavy side with a melodic chorus. When analyzing the form, it was difficult to classify the song with some of the basic forms as binary or ternary, due to the uniqueness of the music style, the way it repeats and changes, the form ...... middle of paper. .....worldwide and they are a group of extremely talented individuals, even though their style of music is not appealing, the way they are able to mix melody and dissonance is musical genius. The song “The Document Speaks For Itself” encapsulates everything ADTR is about, stands for and is proof that they are able to capture the dream of making it in the music industry despite so much hardship.
