In many different fields of study, people can draw on the past to better understand the present or what will happen in the future. It has been debated whether originality can come from poets prior to their contemporaries, whether it comes from the individual or from the aura given by a work of art. The idea of authorship and originality is defined in TS Eliot's “Tradition and Individual Talent” through comparison and contrast, Bloom's “Anxiety of Influence” through the philosophies of Freud and Nietzsche and “ The work of art in mechanical reproduction” by Walter Benjamin through cinema. and photography. When looking at a painting, one must be fully focused to understand the understanding of a painting as opposed to a film. A film doesn't require as much concentration as a painting. Benjamin says art and cinema are “exceptional distractions” in habit-building. However, the film may cause movement among large groups of people.
