In Shakespeare's play “Romeo and Juliet”, the decisions of Romeo and Paris are not very well characterized while Juliet is thoughtful. Although Romeo and Paris are ideal older men, their actions are not reasonable. Juliette being at least 5 years younger than the two, she thinks ahead in order to improve her words and behavior. This is the result of their brain developing over the years. Romeo, although he is a courteous, intelligent and capable man, does not think about how his actions will affect others. When Tybalt kills Mercutio, Romeo feels all kinds of things, including anger, sadness, and ridicule. He says to himself: “O sweet Juliet, your beauty has made me effeminate and has softened the steel of valor in my character” (III: 120-122). Falling in love made him soft.
