The Bible details this event; tell when it started and ended, how long it lasted and why it happened. (Gen. 7:11-24) And this is mentioned several times in the Bible. The Lord himself mentioned it. (Matt. 24:38-39) Fifteen hundred years after the flood, Peter said, “Mockers will come in the last days, walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? Indeed, they willfully ignore that, according to the Word of God, the heavens were formerly and the earth standing out of the water and in the water; whereby the world which then existed, being flooded with water, perished” (II Peter 3:3-7). Peter also noted that it was a global event. (II Peter 3:5-7) He said, “The world that then existed,” which “being flooded with water, perished.” He described the “world” as compacted earth out of water and in the middle of water; therefore, it could include at least the whole world.
