Essay / Domestic violence against women: a global epidemic
One of the most important health and social problems affecting all societies around the world today, regardless of age, race, ethnic groups, socio-economic and religious, is domestic violence against women. women.According to the World Health Organization (2007): Domestic violence is a global problem that transcends national borders as well as socio-economic, cultural, racial and class distinctions. Not only is this problem widely dispersed geographically, but its incidence is also widespread, making it a typical and accepted behavior. Domestic violence is widespread, deeply rooted and has serious consequences for women's health and well-being. Its continued existence is morally indefensible. Its cost for individuals, for health systems and for society is enormous. Yet no other major problem has been so widely ignored and so little understood. Domestic violence is the abuse of power by one adult in a relationship to control another, through violence and other forms of abuse. This can take the form of physical assault, psychological abuse, financial abuse, or social abuse. It is the most common type of violence against women and causes as many deaths and disabilities among women of childbearing age as cancer. It is also a bigger reason for poor health among women than road accidents and malaria combined. This essay aims to discuss the different forms of domestic violence, what leads to domestic violence, and the impacts of domestic violence on women's physical and mental health. the women who experience it, the effects on children who witness it, and the barriers that prevent women from leaving abusive relationships. Domestic violence could be physical...... middle of paper......seems, and provide support and information about legal rights. However, there is little evidence that it works. The best way to address this issue is to raise awareness about domestic violence, but from a male perspective. All calls to action have been focused on the needs of women, without paying enough attention to men, who are the ones carrying out the act. There should be a campaign to get them to question whether it is their daughter or sister who is being forced to suffer the unimaginable devastation they are experiencing at the hands of another man's daughter or sister. How would they feel? This would help them see their actions from a different perspective. Domestic violence against women is a crucial problem in the world that is not given enough attention. This must stop now. Now is the time to act. The abuse must stop!
