Video games are powerful tools that can help children develop certain life skills. According to News.Discovery.com, research has shown that video games can improve the brain's memory and learning abilities. They can also improve reasoning and help with problem solving as well as hand-eye coordination. Video games have been proven to be good for children. There have been many studies done over the past few years on how video games affect children and there are real benefits to video games. Cooperative video games can help improve their ability to work with others. So this means that children who play video games today will work better with other adults when they are older, reducing the chance of problems at work. Video games also have more benefits. “According to a University of Rochester study, people who played action games made decisions 25% faster than others, without sacrificing accuracy, and were able to pay attention to more things at once.” (Yes) "A University of British Columbia study found that men who spent at least 3 hours a week playing action video games had better reaction times as well as better concentration and better target detection." (5 studies) This could mean that the future generation will be better drivers, causing fewer accidents. Video games have also shown other ways to help children and adults more than if they just sit and watch TV. Video games increase gray matter in the right side of your brain. This means that the brain receives increased processing of information from the sensory organs. A study of people who had suffered a stroke showed that video games improved hand strength and made arm movement easier.
