Diffley's role as a pediatrician is to assist, supervise, and care for children, from infants up to twenty-one years old, with measles, mumps , respiratory problems, respiratory infections, stomach, acute immune diseases, bronchitis, and other infectious diseases. Meet, communicate, interact with families from different cultures to help them understand that parenting should be the best part of one's job. The hardest part of his job is when he encounters terminally ill children. Being a family man himself, it has always been a challenge for him to know how to manage and how to tell these patients how sick they are. Volunteering at different facilities, offices, summer internships or even going on a medical mission specifically to underdeveloped countries are some of his advice to someone who wants to pursue and succeed in this work. He also suggests having good testing and note-taking skills in college as it is a very fast-paced learning phase environment. The ability to summarize and take notes helps students understand and analyze context and remains in long-term memory.
