Essay / Homosexuality and Theories of Divinity - 1387
“And we shall see how godless we have become as a nation” (Armstrong). Today's society has called for the revival and renewal of several laws imposed by men and women who think they have understood what God considers right and sinful. Older adult populations view homosexuality as a sin, in which a person cannot love another of the same sex without being condemned to hell, while the younger population responds to the need for love and happiness of all groups of people. Saint Thomas Aquinas states these ideas and what God wants based on his theories. If homosexuality destroyed the family values of love pre-established by the men who are now trying to dictate what love is actually about, we would see many more people and nations in even worse disaster than they already are. If the ultimate goal is the happiness of divinity, shouldn't one seek to make oneself happy and then extend that joy and virtue to others? Isn't that what God wants from his creations, to speak his word and advise his teachings on others, regardless of what society recommends? In this article I have explained the argument for homosexuality based on the Bible and the theories of Saint Thomas Aquinas from the Summa Theologiae, natural law theory and divine command theory..
