Imagine a world with barren trees in overgrown fields. The only sound we hear is that of the wind blowing through the tall grass. A world once full of life is now doomed to extinction. This is the result of a world that has failed to understand the importance of wildlife conservation. Why is wildlife so important? What measures should be taken to preserve wildlife? How to get involved in wildlife conservation? These are all important questions that need to be explored in order to help maintain the delicate ecosystem on Earth. Wildlife plays a vital role in this fragile ecosystem and without it, the human race would not survive. The first step in wildlife conservation is understanding why wildlife is vital to the ecosystem in the first place. The Earth is a huge ecosystem. According to Inamullah Khan of Environmental News, wildlife plays an important role in the global ecosystem. Inamullah Khan states that wildlife is essential to six elements of the ecosystem: "ecological value, economic value, recreational value, scientific value, social value and aesthetic value". (Inamullah Kahn) Inamullah Kahn explains that “ecological value is the interaction of wildlife in nature.” (Inamullah Kahn) The ecosystem is based on harmony among all species. Without it, equity balances would shift, leading to discord and, ultimately, ecosystem collapse. “Food chains” would be altered, disrupting the natural sequence of life. (Inamullah Kahn) Nature is a delicate balance of life and with the loss of one species, all others will cease. We know that the world depends on capital. Without it, the economy would collapse, leading to war, famine and death. Wildlife is an integral part of the global economy.
