Essay / The Global Financial Crisis and the Housing Bubble
When reading about the “global financial crisis” and the “housing bubble,” many things come to mind. I remember sitting in school, hearing teachers and adults talk about the financial crisis, not really knowing what it meant. I remember hearing about other people's parents being laid off or having to move, but I never experienced it myself. The little bubble of my world was secure and no one was really explaining to me what was going on. Until high school. In high school, I took a financial literacy course. This course opened my eyes to so many things. I remember watching videos about the financial crisis. My professor told us that he lost thousands of dollars when the stock market crashed and he had to replenish his retirement fund. I remember watching videos about foreclosures, big companies being bailed out by banks and the government, and much more. Even now I don't completely understand the situation. How could such a thing happen? By plunging the world into crisis and fear, how could so many people lose their jobs, their homes, their way of life in such a short time? Many people lost their jobs and were unable to make their mortgage payments. leading to evictions and foreclosures. A system is in place where someone facing eviction can work out a payment plan and potentially get their home back. Other times, the house is foreclosed on and resold for cash or is sold at auction and purchased by a third party. Working with the homeless, I'm amazed at how many people don't have a place to live. Many people don't have a job to pay for their housing, lost their jobs and ultimately lost their homes, made poor decisions regarding illegal drugs and were unable to make payments, or are content to pay their fees... middle of paper. .....e jobs, but I would like to cut to the chase and talk about the problem. How many more people could be safe from foreclosure or buy a home if they could earn a living wage? How much more money could flow into the real estate industry if more people were lower-middle class, or even (dare I say it) middle class? All these upper class individuals strutting their stuff, buying property is SO wonderful, I'm SO happy they can afford three houses AND a yacht to keep the money swirling in the real estate business. What about the mom who had to rent an apartment for 10 years because of her foreclosure and the effects it had on her credit? Fix the cancer and you'll have all the cash flow you want in the real estate business. This way, no one will need to ask for essays on typing anymore, because it will be something that will be taught in history books..
