    I believe we can use the Constitution as a guideline for our government. I agree with Zinn that if people didn't want changes, we wouldn't have the rights and freedoms we have now; however, I think the Constitution has made these changes much easier to achieve. The Constitution is such an “open” document that even though it was written centuries ago, we can still return to it today to seek answers to questions about the rights we have regarding same-sex marriage, control guns, the right to privacy that we have. with our electronic devices and social media, healthcare and many other areas that were unthinkable at the time. I think he is right because as society changes and new generations are born, their ideas and beliefs change as well. If we were to rely on the beliefs they had when they wrote the Constitution, women would not be able to vote, abortion would be illegal, we would probably still have slavery and many other things that in society today, are unacceptable because we wanted these
