Essay / Quotes from the Lost Symbols - 1284
Langdon, although a master of all the signs and symbols throughout the history of the United States and all its conspiracies, does not believe in the subject of the book , The Lost Symbol of the Freemasons. It is said that if one can find and truly understand it, it will give the person unlimited power by revealing the ancient mysteries that Masons have safeguarded for centuries. Being an educated man, Langdon did not really believe in the existence of such a powerful symbol. Throughout the novel he states and reaffirms that it does not exist and is simply a product of the mythical tradition surrounding Masons. “Pierre turned around. “Robert, can’t you see? The Ancient Mysteries and the Bible are the same thing” (Brown 616). This revelation completely turns Langdon's world upside down. He is completely skeptical until he looks into the eyes of his best friend, Peter Solomon. This shows that some of the ideas we have conceived about things can be completely wrong. The Bible actually shows how to become almighty, but only by using God and believing in Him. With this latest news, Robert is finally allowed to put this conflict on the agenda.
