Feminism has been a widespread issue since the late 18th century, but with small, incremental steps, women are slowly gaining status by proving their worth in society. For decades, women were seen as fragile beings, incapable of thinking for themselves and forced to submit to their husbands. Women's main tasks were to bear children and to serve as objects for sexual purposes.
