A young woman at the wheel of the SUV that crashed into a pond on Sunday in Ohio, killing six, did not have a driver's license, reports AP and based on the accounts of the two surviving men; Police say Alexis Cayson was driving way too fast on a winding road with a 35 mph limit. In fact, survivors say she accelerated as she approached a bend known as Dead Man's Curve and lost control. Meanwhile, nine other teens were killed in two other crashes, NBC News reports. In rural Will County, Illinois, four high school students aged 15 to 17 were extricated from their vehicle this morning after it overturned into a creek last night, the Chicago Tribune reports. It appears the car went through a guardrail and over a bridge, possibly after hitting ice or standing water. In Dumas, Texas, five teenagers were killed when the car they were in ran a stop sign and collided with a fuel truck, AP reports. All five, aged 15 to 17, were pronounced dead at the scene on Sunday. The truck driver is in critical condition (Taylor). There are many other incidents where teenage drivers have killed themselves and others. On a walk after school, teenagers become very distracted, for example, the radio blares, phones ring and vibrate incessantly, and teenagers excitedly and distractedly discuss any life or death situation that has arisen between the seventh and eighth periods of the day. This would generally not be a problem for an experienced driver, able to block out distractions with the necessary concentration skills that only time and practice can perfect.
