    During the Renaissance, great educational advances took place in the fields of geography, astronomy, chemistry, physics, and engineering. The discovery of ancient scientific texts hidden because they were considered heresy and witchcraft increased after the fall of Constantinople in 1453. Additionally, due to the invention of printing which would create new learning opportunities and would enable new ideas. But, initially, some saw the Renaissance as an era of scientific regression. Humanists wanted people to study subjects like politics and history other than the study of philosophy or mathematics.
