The Holocaust is one of the most well-documented events in history, however, nearly 20 percent of Americans still question whether the Holocaust was never happened (Darnell). Holocaust denial is defined as the belief or assertion that the Holocaust did not happen or has been greatly exaggerated (Google). The Holocaust was a deliberate plan to eliminate groups including Jews, communists, homosexuals, the mentally disabled, and non-Aryans. During the Holocaust, the Nazis killed six million Jews and six million non-Jews. Many Holocaust deniers claim that the victims were never killed intentionally and died by chance from typhus, starvation or bombing. Holocaust deniers also believe that gas chambers were never used to kill large groups of people. According to biblebilievers.org, a website written by the editor of the Institute for Historical Review, the doors and windows of the rooms were not “sealed tightly.” Without this closure, the gas would have escaped from the chambers and killed everyone in the area, including the Nazis. Holocaust deniers also believe that the facts about the Holocaust were wildly exaggerated. A primary resource on the Holocaust, The Diary of Anne Frank, is considered fake due to the fact that portions of the diary were written in ballpoint pen, which was not in use at the time the diary was written ( “Hoax”).Different regions and world religions react to Holocaust denial in many ways. The Middle East is experiencing a very rapid growth of a group of Holocaust deniers. Fear of Holocaust denial uprisings pushed Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Israel and Switzerland to make Holocaust denial illegal (Response). Closer to the United States, in Canada, a prison sentence can be imposed on anyone who supports genocide. The law says: “Every day, in the middle of a newspaper, be checked if their ideas get out of control. Influenced young people should not change our rights. Holocaust denial should not be banned; the state must take responsibility for revealing to young people the real facts about the Holocaust. Textbooks should continue to include facts and no opinions. However, having information from other countries' perspectives would provide a better understanding of what really happened during the Holocaust. The Holocaust is one of the greatest crimes against humanity ever witnessed. The deliberate dismissal of several groups of people has been refused for several years.
