Essay / Pretty In Pink Movie Analysis - 1323
Andie gets back together with Blane at prom, and they probably lead a happy relationship together, proving that social class doesn't have to be a barrier between people. It's interesting to note though that this wasn't the original message of the film. In the original version of the film, Andie does not end up with upperclassman Blane, but settles with Duckie, despite her desire to advance in class. With the ending, the message of the film could be interpreted to be that it is not worth trying to cross social class barriers. However, it turned out that the test audience hated this ending. The audience didn't want Andie to settle down and instead wanted her to pursue Blane. The fact that audiences actually wanted to see Andie and Blane together says something about society that the movie didn't originally predict, that maybe people really do think it might be worth seeing. try to mingle with different social actors.
