  • Essay / The Lion King; What is the circle of life - 1025

What is the circle of life? At a time when the Disney animation revival was dominating the world of cinema, one movie completely ruled everything. In 1994, at the height of the company's resurrection, Disney released the epic musical drama The Lion King. It was a critically acclaimed film that spawned a Broadway musical, a spinoff show, and two sequels. I first saw The Lion King when I was three and it's still one of my favorite films to this day. Little did I know that The Lion King was much more than a film about a young lion filling in for the absence of his father, but rather a version of Shakespeare's play Hamlet. The film resonates with me more than ever, as I am older and can identify the themes and influences of the film. The film begins with the sun rising in the jungle of the African Sahara. You hear a loud scream followed by the echoes of the backing singers as a choir begins to sing what would now be a memorable opening theme in cinema history. When I was a kid, I didn't know what I was looking at as all types of African animals started climbing across the country to a huge rock. On this rock we see a pair of Lions smiling as a strange monkey appears and stops a young lion cub and all the animals applaud in the presence of the young lion cub. Watching this as a kid, I was very confused and didn't really understand what I was watching. Now that I am older, I realized that the gathering of the animals and cheering for the new cub was a celebration of royalty and celebrated the future reins of the lions. This scene is very similar in history, as seen in royal couples, such as Prince Harry's wedding. We get a big celebration for what will be England's next ruling couple; the whole world was watching the wedding as the middle of the paper was blowing Dandi lions. As the wind carries the pollen, the letters SFX and are visible when paused. It makes me watch the movie again today to see what undiscovered gems I can try to find that have been hidden throughout the movie. The Lion King I believed can be remembered forever for the impact he had on the world and the way he took it. the world by storm. It was an epic and memorable film that took my imagination by storm. Talking about lions and singing blew me away. As I grew up, I was able to appreciate the incredible storytelling and impact this film had on my life and the way it made me see the world. While watching the film, I sometimes forget that it's an animated film because the voice actors and narration are so convincing that it could be a live-action film. This film captured my imagination as a child and still holds my attention today when I watch it..
