  • Essay / Children of the Holocaust - 727

The Holocaust was a very tragic event, over 1.5 million children and adults were killed. They didn't do anything wrong, they were being themselves and they were judged and hated so much that they had to die. The children were first forced to live in a rundown town with their families, then were soon put on a small train with 200 other people crammed in hungry for food. They traveled for months, some people died and children and adults had to sit next to them. while they rot. People fought for food, they killed for food. Once off the train, the children were immediately separated from the girls and boys, adults and children. They were forced to live in ghettos where they had to wear a star on their clothes so people would know who they were. The children were forced to work every day where they had to work in the field digging holes, operating machines. If they weren't working in the field, they were either dead or would be dead by being forced to participate in a scientific drug experiment. . The children went through terrible times, it's a miracle that some of them survived. It was a tragedy when they died. Anne Frank was a child during the holocaust and she lived longer than I imagined, she fought for her freedom, she eventually died but she died trying. I don't know much about what happened to the children if they died, but they were either burned alive or got sick. In the ghettos, they lived in these little cabins with bunk beds that weren't really beds, they were locked up like in a prison, wall to wall guards making sure they didn't get into trouble. . As for food, they received almost none on the day when they received one piece of bread a day, the children were dying of hunger. If this...... middle of paper ......at survived, some of them still live here today and lead happy, healthy lives, I imagine some of them would have hard to cope. their new life, they might still be shocked by the past that I would be. The Holocaust will be taught to school children forever, it will be a tragic story that will never be forgotten. The soldiers from the camps, some of whom have disappeared, are still hiding but the Americans and people are tracking them and I believe they have all been arrested and thrown into an American prison. I believe that the Holocaust is something that no one, except children and people who actually lived through it, can truly know how hard, tragic and frightening it was. The holocaust is very serious to me and I think the Nazis should never be forgiven for what they did to innocent people, no one could escape this moment in life..
