    What is coaching? Coaching can be interpreted as something so small, like someone teaching a particular sport to people of all ages. But what people don’t know is that coaching is more than just a position; it’s a partnership. “Coaching is an individual procedure and connection between an individual and a coach with specific objectives and goals focused on developing potential, improving interactions and increasing performance” (Blanchard, 2013). Coaches are usually experts in their sport and are willing to push potential athletes to where they want to be or toward what they are ready to become. Being a coach doesn't start out like a typical day at work. The coach must develop a professional relationship with his team or individual participant. In the process of developing this relationship, the coach must take steps such as identifying the short or long term goals of the person or team being guided. The focus is then on the skills needed to develop and achieve these goals. In professional coaching, the individual participant begins by engaging in conversation while the coach listens and observes. As the coach begins to understand the individual's goals, observations will be made and appropriate questions about the goals will be made. Finally, after observation and conversation, the coach's task is to guide the individual toward more effective decision-making and eventually toward achieving goals. Continuing the development process, the coach examines the individual's initial placement to then determine the direction they will eventually take. Coaching is a very complex and complex process.
