    What would I like about being a guidance counselor? Every student needs help in one way or another, whether they are entering high school, need information, choose a career or talk about personal problems. As a senior scholar, I realize that guidance counselors play a big role in helping a student prepare for their future. School counselors play a big role in a student's life, with all kinds of issues, emotional and mental, and I would love to be a part of helping a student. This job interests me for two reasons. First of all, I love chatting with people of all types. Second, I'm always concerned about other people's feelings. The combination of these two qualities is what makes me think being a guidance counselor is right for me. They didn't always have advisors to guide you; they had to end the program during the great depression. Finally, the University of Wisconsin offers a terminal Master of Science in Counseling program, which explores multicultural counseling, consultation, and professional behavior. It also offers a Ph.D. in the Counseling Psychology program. Additionally, the School of Education has a Counseling Psychology Training Clinic, which supports faculty research and offers psychology and mental health services to clients.
