SIOP will ensure a successful lesson plan. Additionally, it will help teachers collaborate with each other. Apart from that, after reading the features of the preparation component, I realized that teaching ESL is different from teaching native students. Language goals should be considered when teaching ESL students. However, the other five features are more likely in every lesson plan and not just ESL lesson plans. Additionally, I realized that all SIOP lessons must have objectives that help ESL improve their academic language. Not only that, but academic vocabulary should also be considered in teaching these students. Regardless, I think all six characteristics are important and should be included in every lesson plan, especially meaningful activities and supplemental materials. I think activities are the most appropriate way to teach students because they will be able to learn without feeling boring. Additionally, I think the activities will improve the relationship between the teacher and their students and between the students and themselves. On the other hand, supplemental materials will help teachers improve their students' academic language. Also, it will reach the general knowledge of students. In short, these two chapters give many successful lesson plans which according to the SIOP protocol.
