    Relationship between the EU and Great Britain. The European Union was formed after many years of negotiations and meetings between the member states of Europe due to common interests and objectives in economic, social and foreign policy. To maintain the Union as a group, it has undergone many changes in its policies, such as the increase in the legislative power of the European Parliament, the increase in the number of member states and many treaties like the Treaties of Rome and of Maastricht were signed to control the governance of the Union. EU. The EU has provided stability, peace and prosperity to its European members. But as the EU grows, becomes powerful and moves towards supranational government, national sovereignty and the veto power are threatened. One of the EU's largest and most powerful members, Britain, is very cautious about its intergovernmental approach. David Cameron has indicated that there will be a referendum on the UK's membership and it is feared that more than half of British citizens will vote in favor of the UK leaving the EU. Relations between the EU and Britain have never been ideal. Since the British have ruled the world for many centuries, they always feel somewhat superior to other European countries.
