Bloodless Violent War. The long period of substantial tension between the two most powerful nations that emerged from World War II (WWII). The United States of America emerged from World War II as the saviors of Europe, gained many new allies, and emerged strong from the Depression to become an economic power. In addition to its economic power, the United States has also gained many prominent political positions globally. Behind the protective "Iron Curtain" was the other great superpower emerging from World War II, Russia, after tirelessly helping the United States end Japan's power in the Pacific, quickly became bitter again towards their new ally. The ideals displayed by these two nations were by no means the same, forcing them into many future debates and conflicts.
