    Leadership and management are the essential requirements necessary for the functioning and flourishing of any organized body of people in the world. Whether a team should succeed or fail in achieving its goals is determined by the leadership and management of the team. Although Leadership and Management are not the same, many people confuse the two (Team Technology, 2014). I agree with Peter F. Drucker's quote: “Management does things right; leadership does the right things.” In Peter's quote, he uses the same words to define leadership and management. From this, we can deduce that Leadership and Management are not the same, but they are related and separating them would probably do more harm than good. This article explains, compares and highlights the differences between leadership and management using the following topics covered in my Leadership One course: Know Yourself, Pragmatic Leadership, The Great Debaters Movie and Pleasing the Masses. Leadership is defined as the process of influencing people to do their best to achieve a desired outcome by developing and communicating a vision of the future, inspiring them and gaining their commitment and commitment (Armstrong, 2009) . A leader has people willing to follow his direction and approach through his ability to influence and persuade them. It is through this effect that leaders derive their authority and power (Learn-to-be-a-Leader.com, 2009). Reflecting on the topic of pragmatic leadership, Lee Kuan Yew from Singapore fits the above explanation of a leader. He inspired the people of Singapore to do their best to become a desirable country, when they were experiencing a deplorable economic situation in the 1960s.
