Going into Rpw 210 I had some pretty weak exceptions. From my previous Rpw experience, I expected a boring professor, with topics and assignments that wouldn't teach me anything. But this course surprised me. Not only the teacher, but also the readings and the contribution or application each day made this course enjoyable. Last year, my rhetoric and professional writing class was dreaded. Nobody took him seriously. If you looked around, most of the students were on their phones. The teacher tried but gave up halfway through the semester, making the course harder to follow. As for the readings, we were reading short stories that made no sense. Then while reading the news we had separate assignments about third world countries, our social class and family and later family heritage. No connection between the two. It became uncomfortable to divulge information about one's family or social class to a class in which I knew no one. I was hoping there would be a connection in the finale, but there never was. During class, we were required to submit handwritten summaries of what happened in class. This means that if you miss a class, you miss easy points. So when I had to register for rpw 210, I wasn't ready for another semester of pointless classes. The first day, I arrived hoping that the teacher would be an easy student and that it would be quick. You surprised me. As I started reading Thanks for arguing, I was still uncomfortable. Over time, Tyfa became relevant in life. I learned a new skill every day that I tried to use with my other teachers. Using it in real life or discussing it in class has become useful. So I would advise continuing Tyfa, class discussion and more “games” like orange Ugli. The class always seemed to enjoy the debates, I...middle of article...recommend reading this next time but the standards are set by someone else. Science is a difficult subject for students because most of the time you either love it or hate it. Reading logs and discussion forum posts about either book helped memorize and understand each set of chapters. Dividing chapters was the hardest part since most of the longer chapters were assigned during the week rather than the weekend. The use of technology in the classroom has been great since most of today's students are well versed with it. Using Twitter and online resources to your advantage is something I would keep. Having multiple credit opportunities also helped, especially when work piled up and quality declined. The teacher, the presentation and the general enthusiasm also helped, because without it the motivation of all students would have dropped..
