  • Essay / Descriptive Identity Disorder in the film: A...

Hank was coming out at any time and Charlie had no control. Hank would cause trouble in town. Charlie would be there for a second, then Hank would come out and cause major trouble. An example of this would be when Charlie and another character were going to eat. One second it was Charlie being all nice, then Hank appeared. Hank made some very rude comments to the waiter who was very surprised by what he said. The waiter fought back and it resulted in a fight in the restaurant. Hank ended up getting kicked out of the restaurant. Once Charlie's personality returned, he was no longer able to remember everything that had happened. He was shocked when he was told what had happened and what he had said. Charlie didn't believe it was him who said such things. Lack of memory of events that happened is a clear symptom of DID. As Charlie was unable to remember certain events, he was eventually fired from the police station. His boss said he was a liability. The fact that Charlie couldn't explain why certain events were happening, they couldn't bear to have him on board.
