The crowds of people rushing forward and shoving each other recklessly, the wave of humans in a chaotic race to grab their favorite “sale” items. Black Friday, the day when items are sold at their real price, is the day when stores are stripped of merchandise. Every man for himself. However, there is a day in the world when stores are filled with a serene aura. There are no incoherent screams of children demanding toys or seemingly endless snakes of people impatiently waiting for their turn at the checkout. As the activity of people in stores decreases, the profit line of businesses, industries and corporations also decreases. In a way, people are freed from the bastion of economics that forces them to spend their money endlessly. The immensity of annual spending cannot be entirely countered by a single annual no-purchase day, but that single day still has the capacity to remind citizens to reduce their dependence on consumer products.
