The C-Walka. To focus on this mission, my group and I chose Dance Style. Under Dance Style, we chose to research a dance style known as Crip Walk, or in other words, C-Walk. My group and I chose the dance style as our focus because it has many variations that I and my group are familiar with. My group and I have general knowledge of the C-Walk, and because of its interesting history, we decided to choose this as a dance style to research. The Crip Walk belongs to the hip-hop genre and is a very intense dance that resembles a cross between hip-hop and breakdancing. The dance consists of dance moves taken from different dances and is basically just a collaboration full of enthusiasm. Dancers wear very loose clothing, such as jeans and t-shirts, when participating in this dance. The C-Walk was created in the 1970s in Los Angeles, California by a gang known as the Crips, hence the dance's name. The Crips were a violent gang, who had a rivalry with another gang that opposed them, known as the Blood. The Bloods also have their own dance style. The Crips created this dance because they wanted to use it as a symbol of themselves, and they used it as a victory dance to celebrate a murder. This dance later became known in the 1990s around the world as hip-hop dance and attracted the interest of hip-hop dancers. The dancing usually takes place outdoors or in the street and is very informal. There is no correct order as to how the dance should take place. It's a bit like breakdancing, where the movements and other things are done improvisationally or invented yourself.
