Essay / Water Pollution - 846
“We never know the value of water until the well is dry. » These words were spoken by Thomas Fuller. This quote may seem rather confusing to some people. This is explained by the main effects of water pollution on the environment. Water is one of the most important elements in the world. Have you ever wondered what life would be like without water? If a lot of water disappeared, how could we stay hydrated throughout the day? Stay clean? Healthy? These are just the basic effects of water pollution, because losing water means losing plants, food and oxygen. The loss of clean water can mainly lead to the loss of endangered or innocent animals that live in the ocean. Fish cannot survive in a polluted area. Water is very important. Before people throw trash on the sand of a beach or overuse water from their sinks, they need to think about how they are leading the future of the environment to destruction. Water pollution has various causes. The best known causes are oil spills and industrial waste. An oil spill is a release of petroleum mixtures of hydrocarbons, which are simply a compound of hydrogen and carbon. This is only localized in many oceans or coastal waters due to any human activity. The oil separates and looks like a huge drop that has just formed. Watercraft such as motorboats can accidentally leak and unknowingly cause this spill. As the oil continues to spread across the ocean until it reaches its limit, the sea creatures living beneath the oil spill become aware of it, which soon suffocates and kills almost all of them. Industrial waste is another cause of water pollution. This is waste produced by any industrial activity, such as manufacturing and ...... paper ...... so there may be little water left. The text states in the NRDC charity's "Protecting Water" section: "Many of our water resources lack basic protections, leaving them vulnerable to pollution from factory farms, industrial facilities and activities such as hydraulic fracturing. This can lead to contamination of drinking water, habitat degradation and beach closures. It clearly states that due to lack of protection of water, it is more vulnerable to many pollutants, toxins, dirt and other sources, including chemicals. In other words, the water we consume and enjoy must remain clean. If we lived in a world polluted by water, what would soon become of future life? Works Cited NRDC. "Water."
