The reason for this is that it was a globally recognized organization with great brand awareness and a strong iconic brand. Given the size of the organization, it was decided that McDonalds had many strategic options. Brief Introduction to McDonaldsMcDonalds was established in 1937 and run by two brothers Dick and Mac McDonald in California. They produced a limited menu, focusing on just a few items – burgers, fries and drinks – which allowed them to focus on quality at every stage. McDonalds has more than 35,000 restaurants worldwide, serving approximately 70 million customers in more than 100 countries. In the UK there are around 1,200 restaurants, 600 of which are franchised. McDonalds UK employs around 85,000 people and more than a million worldwide. On average, McDonalds serves over 3.8 million customers per day in the UK (Mcdonalds.com, 2014). Objectives of the Report The business environment is constantly changing, which largely affects small and large organizations. Organizations such as McDonalds need to develop and improve new and existing strategies to enable them to expand into new markets and implement strategies to help them expand further.
