Essay / Gentrification of Class War in East Harlem - 812
OutlineTopic: Gentrification of Class War in East Harlem There has been a huge shift in East Harlem between class war and gentrification. East Harlem has been an additional economic contributor to the city's per capita wealth since the attacks of September 11, 2000. It is Manhattan's newest development and is on our government's tax revenue agenda. East Harlem has become a profit-driven capitalism. Gentrification reinforces capitalism, it does not separate people, it does not go against race, the poor and the working class, it wages war on the poor and the working class. Class War Gentrification in East HarlemSOCIAL CULTUREWhat is class and class war? Class is class in terms of income, wealth, education, status/position, and/or power. Social class affects people emotionally and economically. Economically, this involves how much money you have, socially, who you know, and educationally, what or how much you know. Social class is a set of subcultures ranked in order of prestige, it is divided into three parts: upper class includes white-collar jobs, jobs in the field of CEOs, politicians and doctors, people who work in specialized fields. The middle class is white. -collar workers, they work as secretaries, teachers and middle managers. The lower (poverty)/working class are blue collar and the “low” they work in manufacturing jobs, janitors, etc. Class war is the struggle between classes in a society, often based on capitalist principles. Industrialist vs. Working Class Educated, Rich vs. Poor and Working Class Ideology: Politician vs. Constituents How does class warfare affect a community? The rich start...... middle of paper .. ....the rich have reshaped our political system by not banning political spending by corporations, unions or other organizations. C What is political equality or economic equality? Citizens of the United States are assured of equal rights. Without political equality, citizens will not benefit from the protection of fundamental rights that enable economic prosperity. Like the right to keep what they have earned and trade freely. Tyrannical governments maintain their power by granting benefits to favored groups at the expense of everyone else. Economic equality is a fantasy used to justify the granting of advantages to favored groups. A fair wage/price is one that people are willing to pay. If the government tries to impose another notion of "fairness", it will result in fewer jobs because people will not be willing to pay. I guess they might be forced to pay - that's where the tyranny comes in.
