Essay / Advantages/Disadvantages of the Myers Briggs Personality Type - 688
Assignment #4 - Advantages/Disadvantages of the Myers Briggs Personality TypeDuring the Myers Briggs Type Indicator PowerPoint presentation, as the instructor reviewed the different personality types, I was able to: recognize which subcategories I belong to almost instantly. When my computer personality test results came back to me, I was right. As I read descriptions of Extroversion, Intuition, Feeling, and Judging (ENFJ) types, I quickly recognized myself in the descriptive words. The first subset of my personality is extroversion, as opposed to introversion. As an extrovert, I would describe myself as social, outgoing, and gregarious. This characteristic helps me communicate and reach out to others. However, there are downsides to extroversion. Often I speak before thinking and may interrupt others or say things without thinking about the consequences. Extroverts can also be easily distracted, something I know all too well. The next subset of my personality is intuition. Intuition, and the opposite, sensing, describes how I take in information. As a person with highly developed intuition, I focus on the future and trust my ideas. Intuitives are less concerned with current data than with seeing ideas for the future. The negative implications of intuitives are often a feeling of distraction from others, as well as the possibility of neglecting current problems, while considering the future. As a feeler, I'm a typical woman. Feelers use human values rather than logical analysis when making decisions. Although thinkers are objective, as feelers I would describe myself as compassionate and empathetic. However, feelers often spread themselves too thin and put others before themselves.Final...... middle of paper ......itable. This is definitely an issue I have a lot of personal experience with. I am often very critical of others and myself when I am stressed. I completely agree with my categorization as an ENFJ. All the characteristics of extroversion, intuition, feeling and judgment, and their combination, describe me accurately and completely. Works Cited Dixon, John W.
