  • Essay / Robots - 1076

Robots have always had a special place in the hearts of humanity. There has always been an aura of mystery and discovery surrounding them. What is a robot? Wikipedia defines it as “an automatically guided machine capable of performing tasks on its own.” This is a good definition of a robot, but there are also some exceptions. The term “robot” was first coined by Josef Capek. It was used by his brother Karel Capek in his play Rossum's Universal Robots. The word literally means “work” in Czech. Science fiction author Isaac Asimov was the first to use the word "robotics" in his short story "Liar!" » One of the first robots was invented by Leonardo da Vinci. It was just a sketch of a mechanical knight, capable of sitting, waving its arms, and moving its head and jaws. It was unclear whether he had attempted to build it. Other automatons have also been created throughout history, but in 1926, Westinghouse Electric Corporation created the first robot used for work, Televox. The first autonomous robot was created between 1948 and 1949 by William Gray Walter. It could detect light and touch and moved without human guidance. Finally, the first industrial robot was called Unimate and was used by General Motors to lift hot pieces of metal and stack them. Robots have many tasks to perform in the world, from working to playing with humans. Generally, there are few types of robots for these tasks. There are general-purpose robots used to perform many functions, such as walking around or talking to people. Some of them can move on their own and others try to imitate humans. Robots are also used to work quickly and efficiently. Factory robots are generally cheaper than human workers and can work more efficiently. They can put together......in the middle of a sheet of paper......major obstacles on the ground right now, but when they are cleared, the sky is the limit. Robots are starting to imitate humanity as best they can, and soon they will be like humans, with the ability to think and the ability to decide. This world will come soon, but now we can only wait and do our best. Wikipedia. Wikimedia Foundation, Inc., July 21, 2010. Web. July 24, 2010. .“Robotics”. Wikipedia.
