    Hunger, thirst, lack of shelter and fresh air are all things you need to survive. Yet many countries around the world struggle with a lack of these resources, including Rwanda. The country of Rwanda suffers from overpopulation. There is such a huge population and since 2012, about fifty-one percent of that population has been women, which can only further increase the number of people in Rwanda (Population; Women (% of total) in Rwanda). This is the biggest point of contention in Rwanda because it leads to other complications, including hunger, poverty and disease. Moreover, every year the mortality rate decreases and the birth rate increases (Population; women (% of total) in Rwanda.), (Kinzer, Stephen). Concern about overpopulation in Rwanda has been a problem for a long time because religion has remained fairly constant over the past two decades, which affects the population (Kinzer, Stephen). Unfortunately, the 1994 genocide killed around eight hundred thousand people, but the population is still too high for a country the size of Rwanda (Kinzer, Stephen). The reason why there is still overpopulation after the genocide is that after the genocide, people who were not quite aware that there were too many people living in their country thought that they had to catch up with all the people who They had lost and even produced more babies, which quickly equalized the number lost just a few years earlier. Birth control choices were made by the majority of Rwanda's religious beliefs (Williams, Katherine).
