Nearly ten years ago, Americans experienced one of their worst attacks on their own country. Since that day, Americans have been in Iraq, Pakistan, Iran and other neighboring countries searching for the leader of the attacks, Osama bin Laden. On May 2, 2011, America finally killed this man. This man who left his parents childless. This man who created orphans from children. This man who became a widower, men and women. This man who devastated a nation and all its families. This man has now been killed and justice has been served across the country. Our current president, Barack Obama, gave a speech to the American people that reminded them of how they felt the day bin Laden got what he wanted; Relaying the events that led to Osama's death, Obama delivered a speech that made Americans feel safe again and have followers in their own country. Through pathos, repetition and anecdotes, Obama draws the attention of all Americans, whether for or against him, to remember September 11 and inform them of the justice that was served, while trying to obtain approval for the 2012 elections. September 11/2001: hijacked planes, collapsed towers, smoke, fire, confusion, death. September 11 is a day that no living American can ever forget. Then-President George W. Bush believed that war with Al-Qaeda would be the best option at the time, and most Americans agreed. The war in Afghanistan began on October 7, 2011; America sent troops to Afghanistan which then expanded to Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and other neighboring countries, which could eventually lead us to the capture of Bin Laden (Source.2 ). The search finally ended nearly a decade after 9/11, two and a half years after we arrived... middle of paper ...... Obama's actions, our country is finally able to sigh of relief because he is no longer threatened by Bin Laden.
