Carl SandburgCarl Sandburg was undoubtedly a very talented writer of the early 1900s. He experienced many difficulties during his journey to pursuit of the American dream early in his life, which significantly influenced his work. Throughout his life he was a hard worker and very influential. He traveled all over the country looking for answers to the difficulties of this life. Carl Sandburg's life was not easy, but after much perseverance, he finally achieved his dreams. Carl Sandburg was born in northern Galesburg, Illinois, on January 6, 1878. His mother and father were immigrants from northern Sweden to this great country. of America. The original family name was the Johnsons, but after realizing there were so many families with that name, he changed the family name to Sandburg. They were a very poor family in the late 1800s and did what they could to survive. Because of this, Carl had to drop out of school at the age of thirteen in search of odd jobs. Most of the jobs he had were only temporary because he would find a different job that paid better than the last one. By the time he was seventeen, he was homeless and traveled wherever the trains went. One day he jumped on a train that took him to the other side of the country. After being homeless and poor, he decided to enlist in the military. He immediately served more than eight months in the Spanish-American War after being deported to Puerto Rico. During his service, he met a student who attends Lombard College, which is actually in his hometown. While serving in the army with his new friend, he was convinced to attend Lombard College. Sandburg worked diligently while maintaining his grades in college. Every time he left his parents who had nothing to give him except knowledge, he took that knowledge and left his mark on this world. He was a man who was not afraid of failure but was nevertheless driven by the hope of succeeding. Carl Sandburg was undoubtedly a brilliant writer who was not afraid of hard work and by the end of his life had won numerous awards and started a legacy that continues to this day..
