The Ultimate FighterWhat if your success was based on your fighting skills and dedication? This is the case in the new reality TV show “The Ultimate Fighter”. It is based on one of the oldest theories, that of survival of the fittest. Survival of the fittest is how much of American culture works. This television show depicts American culture using the concept of survival of the fittest. This show, like many shows today, is a reality show. There are a group of guys who are placed in a house to live together. The problem is that every guy wants to become an ultimate fighter. They will have to compete against each other in events as well as fight if they want to stay on the show. The winners get a six-figure contract and a chance to fight with the best in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). The house is divided into two teams. Each team had an even number of people from each weight category. Teams compete in events such as obstacle courses and more. The winning team must choose one person from their team to fight a member of the other team. The loser has to pack up and go home. If a team becomes unequal, individuals are moved to other teams to even them out. This show allows people to socialize with each other since they live together. The teams generally stay together in the house. Fighters usually only hang out with their teammates at home. Members of opposing teams occasionally talk to each other, although the discussion usually consists of trash talk. This can also have an effect on who the team chooses to fight. The show is on Spike TV. It's a channel that aims to be television for men. This show is aimed at men. Fighter teams are coached by active fighters within the UFC. The...... middle of paper ...... way of life for American culture. Some may deny it, but it's true. Not everyone or everything can work out for the best. People may not want their businesses to fail, but they do. Survival of the fittest balances things out in America. Not every business can be successful and not everyone can be successful. If it were that way, no one would do the work no one wants. If everyone walked, everyone would open a business. It's cruel but we need people who fail. In other words, we need “weak” people. The show is a very good example of how American culture is handled. American culture may not be so direct as to say get in the ring and fight to see who is the fittest. In a way, everything is a “ring” and everyone is competing to see who is the fittest. This is how America works. It's survival of the fittest.
