It's a music genre where pop culture, radio and MTV reigned supreme, it's where music, dance, high school, theater and sex intersect. Perhaps the major success of Fox's Glee is due to its ability for its audience to identify with the show. This brings to life the social complication that high school students face. Its storyline consists of social outcasts (which is common among high school students in America) and primarily focuses on characters confronting and challenging dominant social norms regarding relationships, family, and sexuality, which features a cast rich in diversity of race, sexuality and personality. The story of Glee focused on the eccentric members of the high school glee club, showing that it is good to be divergent. As shown in the series, it is a place for weird kids, where the differences between Glee characters are emphasized, preserving the stereotypes about these differences, but the creators, Ryan Murphy, reveal his desire to showing that diversities are worth celebrating and critiquing familiar representations of difference.
