Essay / Should we colonize space? - 815
Day by day, the population of the Earth increases, resources become scarcer and the idea of colonizing space comes to mind. However, is this a good idea? Billions of dollars will be needed to complete this once-in-a-lifetime expedition, and willing volunteers will be needed. However, who will dare to embark on such an adventure? How are we going to proceed? If we make the trip, will the money be worth it? Besides, do we even need to take this trip into space? Personally, I think space travel is not worth it. We have destroyed the Earth beyond what our imaginations could ever do to us, and we have taken this world even though it is not rightfully ours. If we colonize space, we will only do what we did to the Earth: eradicate it as we did to the Earth. Resources are running out, but the answer to the problem may lie in global distribution. We are able to produce enough food for the whole world, but much of it is wasted and many still starve and some die. The alarming side of human beings was revealed at the start of World War II (and before). Torture and abuse hit innocent lives and many harmless people suffered and died. In 2006, Paris, France, had a population density of 21,000 people per kilometer2. If everyone lived the same way, we wouldn't have a living space problem. How does the Earth rightfully belong to us? This is not the case. It belongs to every living creature on this planet, and yet we intend to mistreat animals and use them to test cleaning products. Is this what we – what you want to happen with eventual space colonization? One of the many reasons humans want to colonize space is extinction. Yet the cause of human extinction is ourselves, not the Earth itself. Greenhouse gases pollute the planet, globally...... middle of paper ......s it's obvious, because we will only destroy space as we did at the Earth. Do you want to see space demolished like Earth? By polluting, creating global warming and wasting resources, space will only shrink, even if we don't intend to. Yes, the growing population, limited resources, possible extinction, and the fight for land will always exist, but there are answers to our problems. If we value nature and animals as the Native Americans once did, the problem of limited resources can be solved. We can't stop an asteroid from colliding with Earth or anything that could lead to extinction, but the dinosaurs are dead, so it's possible we will too. The reason we think about colonized space is global warming, resource waste, and land limitation, but we are the cause, and we will only devastate space like we did on Earth..
