    “The art of war is of vital importance to the state. It is a matter of life and death, a path to safety or ruin. » - Sun Tzu The modern world accepts laziness, disrespect, rebellion and mediocrity. The days of hard work and discipline are long gone; replaced by decadent morals and non-existent parenting. If this nationwide contagion continues to grow, the result will be a country incapable of sustaining itself, governing itself, or defending itself. The solution is obvious: military service. Mandatory military service in the United States for those aged 18 for a period of two years would have many benefits and alleviate many of the problems facing America. Compulsory military service gives high school dropouts a second chance. StatisticBrain.com reports that 90% of jobs in the United States are not accessible to college dropouts. These dropouts will most likely end up on the streets, causing havoc and harm to law-abiding citizens. 75% of crimes in the United States were committed by high school dropouts (“High School” 1). The simple fact is that dropping out of high school is detrimental to society. Another problem that can be solved by military service is the general disorder in which American youth find themselves. Have a conversation with any old person and the discussion will quickly turn into a lecture about how America is going potty and how young people today are rotten punks. These older members of society are known as the baby boomer generation. All baby boomers were born after World War II, and most of their fathers had fought an evil hell bent on crushing the nation they loved. The children of these warriors were regularly disciplined by means of the belt or the staff and mistakes were rarely made twice.
