White supremacy is a system used to maintain the dominance and superiority of white people over minorities. Although racism and white supremacy are no longer as evident as before, there has been a new development of racism, which manifests itself in the form of the notions of colorblindness, assimilation, and model minority. Color blindness is a racial ideology that diminishes discrimination by not seeing skin color. However, this causes racial prejudice because there is still white privilege in society. In other words, we already embrace a world of whiteness because it is an unnoticed notion of orientation as it shapes relations of power, self-identity, and objects in space. Additionally, without recognizing cultures, one cannot accept the unique differences among humanity. Assimilation is the process by which different cultures come to resemble one group. Therefore, assimilation was not done for unity and acceptance, but to impose a culture by adapting it within a limited perspective. It was a process of forced cultural abandonment of religious or ethnic minority groups in order to establish a larger community. Finally, the model minority is a group that can achieve a “higher” degree of socio-economic success than the average minority, particularly in terms of income, low crime rates and stability. This causes separation and conflict between all minority groups because it is an act of superiority. Although these concepts are considered positive by society, racism and white supremacy have been transcended by contemporary institutional barriers of prejudice, contributed by factors within our own minority communities such as assimilation, color blindness, and model minority. “Color is something white people deeply desire. , but cannot own.
