Essay / The Murder of Lorraine Kelly and Mary Pryor - 1455
The murder of Lorraine Kelly and Mary Pryor still haunts the town of North Bergen as their disappearance was strange and quick. This case was closed due to lack of evidence, but was reopened after forty years to seek justice and answers into the deaths of the two teenage girls. The last person to see and speak to Mary Pryor was her sister Nancy Pryor when her sister told her she would be back at eight o'clock at the latest. In an attempt to hide her and her family's identity, after the murder she left Hudson County and has not disclosed her married name or current location of residence due to frenzied fear that the murderer could plan an attack against her and/or her family. Prior to their murder, the two teenagers resided on 76th and were active hitchhikers. Both victims were found in a wooded area of Bergen County known as Montvale, and it was evident they had been beaten, sexually assaulted and forcibly strangled. As a result, when the bodies were found, they were in an early state of decomposition, which allowed forensic scientists to see visible evidence on the body, such as semen and marks. Possible Suspect Background The only possible suspect for the deaths of Lorraine Marie Kelly and Mary Ann Pryor and several other deaths is Robert Reldan also known as "The Charmer". He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and when he was 11 his family moved to Fort Lee, New Jersey. Six years later, at the age of 17, he began committing crimes such as thefts and burglaries which earned him an unspecified amount of probation and had to undergo psychiatric examinations ordered by the judge. Simultaneously, after receiving the psychiatric evaluations, he was diagnosed... middle of paper... then he got to work. Additionally, I believe there was a lack of direction when they charged her boyfriend, as no evidence was found that could incriminate him in any way. Alternatively, his girlfriend and Pryor were known as hitchhikers to everyone who knew them personally. Basically, these girls were used to taking the risk of asking for transportation to get to their destination. However, Nancy Pryor doesn't believe they were hitchhiking to the mall that day. Robert Reldan had a habit of kidnapping strangers at bus stops. So I realized that teenage girls probably met their attackers at the bus stop when they were dropped off. All the evidence incriminates Robert and he still hasn't been convicted of the murders of Pryor and Kelly, which is outrageous. He should be convicted for all the murders because everything points to him.
