  • Essay / Application for Master in Theory and...

In this ever-changing IT world, where IT systems are becoming more efficient, intelligent and complex, I find the in-depth study of IT concepts not only attractive but also indispensable. . As I move into the future, I strongly desire to benefit from a program that would help me build a comprehensive foundation in the field of computer science. In this area, I developed a deep interest in the field of computer science and theory. More specifically, I find algorithms and computational theory to be the most attractive fields because of their application to solving many real-world problems. My undergraduate course in the field of electronic engineering gave me comprehensive exposure to all the fundamental areas of computer science and mathematics. During my first year, I participated in the prestigious robotics competition-Robocon 2007 with my peers. It was an eye-opening experience as I had the opportunity to build a robot from scratch – from design to assembly to programming. I was heavily involved in its programming, using the C++ language for path planning and motion control. During this phase, I learned about different algorithmic strategies such as line and sensor based algorithm, fuzzy logic, etc. which could help the robot decide on faster navigation and make the right decisions to avoid being blocked, sparking my interest in this field. Overall, it was a great and challenging learning experience as it gave me an insight into how concepts from different branches of engineering result in the creation of a robot and required a multitude activities, including problem solving, research and team coordination, to achieve our goal. In my final year, I did a project called “Microcontroller based heart rate monitor”. The project has strengthened my workplace......by working and learning under the guidance of Prof. Shaddin Dughmi and contributing to his research in the areas of algorithms, I am sure that I will be able to exploit my potential to the fullest. I also want to be closely associated with Professor Ming-Deh Huang and his work in the areas of computational complexity and cryptography to achieve excellence in my chosen field. In conclusion, I would like to say that I am fully aware of the hard work and perseverance that goes into this. through this program and I believe that my quest for knowledge, my go-getter personality, my skills and my motivation will help me fulfill my commitments and work coherently to achieve my goals. If given the opportunity, I would like to contribute to the academic environment of your department and I really look forward to being a part of your esteemed computer science department as a stepping stone towards achieving my goals..
