Essay / Special Treatment for Celebrities: The Law Should Apply...
Have you ever read a newspaper and heard about celebrities driving while drunk, then getting arrested and accused of offending the arresting officer and others. then several weeks later you hear about this same person who was only charged with a minor offense when you remember it was a DUI (driving under the influence). Why is the law helping these celebrities? Being a celebrity exposes them to the public, and many celebrities benefit from this in many ways. Whether it's sportswear or sunglasses, they are sometimes even seen supporting politicians. Whatever their interest, it is important because their fans trust them and are seen as a moral person with integrity. Sometimes you can turn on a TV and see them hosting an event to raise money for various causes, whether it's helping hospitals that care for children with cancer, earthquake victims or to collect food for the homeless. and we can all see it and it feels good that someone is at least making an effort to help. It is common knowledge that the law is almost always imperceptible to famous people who commit a crime, most are light in nature, leaving the officer present an easy choice to give him a simple warning and dismiss him, but what happens when the offense is more serious, dangerous enough to endanger himself and those around him. Do they do it because they know they can get away with it, or do they do it because they are human like you or me and make mistakes like everyone else. Do they deserve a change to explain themselves, or should they be treated like any average person in this country. When someone is driving under the influence and a police officer pulls you over, the officer triggers a...... middle of paper ...... This would change at all if we didn't speak out against injustice and unfairness towards the legal agencies, we can get everyone involved in this and put an end to the so-called celebrity favors. In the meantime, I'll be keeping an eye on the newspapers and checking a website from time to time to see how our stars are doing. Hopefully it won't be necessary to start petitions to get these issues resolved. But I am confident that America will come forward and address the problem with vigor and courage.
